It’s still so strange to... be in this situation. They have the memories of an adult, the body of a child, and the consciousness of somewhere in between. On the one hand, Kite has retained the knowledge of their past life, so they hardly feel as though they need to be taken care of. And since Chimera Ants are practically born adult (perhaps depending on how much human DNA they possess), it feels a bit awkward to play the role of someone else’s child.
However, Kite had never experienced parents in their past life. They had grown up on the streets, completely estranged from the concept of family. Having someone doting on them now feels... not so bad.
“Well, nothing in particular, really.”
Admittedly, Kite had simply wanted the other’s attention, a new desire they can’t quite understand. Perhaps they had unintentionally imprinted upon Colt during their unnatural birth -- though, everything about Kite’s existence now is unnatural. It has left them feeling rather lost, but it’s some comfort knowing Colt cares for them.
(Even if that care is directed towards their Chimera Ant genes rather than their human memories.)
“...Is that tea? It looks good...”
Back during their human days, Kite hadn’t cared too much for coffee, so they’re glad to see their guardian has similar taste. Carefully Kite hoists themselves up to sit at the table -- with some difficulty, as this new body is rather short. Gone is the lean frame of their past that made it possible to reach anything with ease, and it causes Kite to scowl. Perhaps they were not yet done growing... they could only hope.
There’s a lot Kite wants to ask, but they remain quiet, still not quite sure how to engage the other as warmly as he deserved.
