Levi considered Mikasa's words before gently saying, "Humanity can wait an extra day." He studied her face carefully, watching her eyes for any-- if at all-- slight altercations of her current emotional state. "It needs you just as much as it needs me-- Without both of us, the rest of this world would have gotten itself into more shit than it would have known how to handle. But one more day without us moving pawns around won't change much."

The walls were safe for now. No titan within a days walk would be around to cause any trouble. And while it was true that Levi and Mikasa would be gone for much longer than just a day, he was certain that his men-- or what remained of his men-- could handle their fair share of giants without getting an order to do so.

It was probably better that they figured he was dead. The shock would will them to fight harder and longer. Revenge would fuel them, just as it had fueled Levi himself.

"I'm going with you," He said, tone not offering leeway for objections.

"You can’t say that here," He warned, wanting to be steady but having his voice break slightly as he spoke frantically to the girl in front of him. "Not yet… You can’t say that yet."

This was just their luck, wasn’t it? This was them being punished, right? Because obviously they had it too easy in the past. After all they’ve been through, some twisted fuck decided that it wasn’t enough. They had to carve another wound into their ever ripping skin. That’s right, isn’t it? That’s right…

"Not here," He repeated after several moments, finding it difficult to speak around his closing throat. "We have to do this… We owe him this. And I know—Shit.. Shit, I know it’s hard. But this is what he wanted from the start.”

He pried his eyes away from Mikasa, forcing himself to look down and meet a pair of green, hazy eyes. Chest tightening, Levi nodded. Unhooking the button on the front of his cloak, the man ripped the garment off, letting it flutter in the air momentarily before it came crashing back down to the ground, Levi’s hands guiding it to rest over Eren’s body. The fabric, however, wasn’t large enough to cover the entirety of the corpse, and tuffs of black hair protruded from underneath the green wash of his cloak. A part of a hand poked out as well, along with a pair of legs— both torn apart and bloodied, one of them missing a boot.

Bending down, Levi stared at the figure, face emotionless as he did so. “Grab his shoulders,” He commanded. “I’ll get his legs… We’ve got a long ride ahead of us if we’re going to make it to the ocean.”

She turns at the sound of the familiar voice. "Ah, Nifa; I did! News sure spreads fast around here, doesn't it?" She lets out a small chuckle.
