「♞ ⋗ Hanji Zoe 」
Once beside his own horse, Levi stroked its thankfully dry mane - looks like his own horse had been smart enough to wait under shelter.
Hoisting himself up onto the saddle, the horse nickered, eager to make its way out of the shabby stable.
❛❛Ready, Hanji?❞
═══╝
Hanji patted her horse on the neck as she prepared him to leave, murmuring an apology for not having brought any treats.
She secured her supplies and joined Levi on horseback, starting out of the stables, careful not to go too fast on the soft ground.
"Sure am. The sooner we can get back home, the better."

Taking his draped cloak and cravat from the three-and-a-half-legged chair, Levi was satisfied at how his green cloak wasn’t soaked as it had been before.
❛❛Just means we can get out of here now, head back to base,❞ he reminded. ❛❛C'mon, let's go get the horses from that broken-down stable so I can go get a cup of tea and you can- I don't even know what you do- let's just go.❞

Hanji followed his lead and turned away from the door to go back and retrieve her things, wringing out the last bit of moisture from her jacket and cloak.
"Mhm. What a relief, huh? All our paperwork was missing us." Despite the irony in her tone, Hanji really did feel the need to get back to her research. "I drink coffee, Levi, coffee. I hope the horses weren't too cold in there, it wasn't in the best condition." She put her jacket on and led the way back outside.
"Well you seem to really know a lot more about this than I do."
He stepped closer, holding her hands in his, staring at her, waiting for her to do something. “Teach me?”
"Not really... Maybe a little, but I'm no real expert."
She squeezed his hands lightly, smiling and leaning in for a brief kiss. "Something like that. You sure you wouldn't rather hear me discuss my research again?"
Send a "♪" for the Muse to sing part of a song the Mun has recently listened to.
Well of course it was hypocritical, and now he felt bad. But Levi wouldn’t admit how bothered he really was. It just wasn’t in his nature. A part of him was a little pleased by the fact she wanted him around. It was a feeling he loved, being wanted. Something he lacked for quite some time in his life. And it wasn’t like Hanji was a stranger. She was his ally, and possibly his closest friend. He trusted her, and knew she wouldn’t think him weak for feeling. Noting the seriousness in her gaze, Levi stopped the argument he was forming in his head. He didn’t break her gaze as he listened to her, keeping silent. When she was finished, his eyes shifted downwards, and he was quiet for a few moments. “You’re right.” He said at last, his voice soft. She was right, of course she was. She was always right, it felt. “I can’t pretend that none of this bothers me. In fact, it’s hit me rather hard, I just…I’m not the type to express such things. If you want, though, if you think it will benefit, then I’ll take some time off with you.”
That seemed to be the best way. Despite his lonely nature, Levi didn’t always like being alone. He’d rather distract himself than be alone with his thoughts. “I’m sorry for being so difficult, I just don’t want to sound like I’m ungrateful for the discovery. As awful as it is, we should be grateful that we discovered this sooner versus later, when it could’ve been too late.”
In the few moments it took Levi to answer, there was a flicker of doubt in Hanji's mind that she did not allow to show on her face. Was she being too pushy? Throughout their conversation she kept having small misgivings prickling her, and she hated every second of it. She shouldn't have to feel this way, she told herself. She knew Levi well enough to trust her instincts on him almost every time, but lately she wasn't as sure with anything as she'd been before, even her friends. It wasn't fair that the things she should be able to count on were also uncertain just when she needed constants in the face of everything else. At least it was herself she actually doubted and not anyone else. That was nothing she was entirely unused to, though it did mean she was fixated on that now and that attitude was no help to anybody.
She nodded slowly as Levi confessed, the payoff not as good as she would've hoped. She had been working to hear him say all of that and yet now that he did it was mostly just upsetting. At least he was admitting it.
"I know, Levi," she said softly. "I know. But what you should do is whatever you need to make yourself feel any better. I'm not going to make you stay if you'd rather be alone, but I do think it'd benefit you to have someone to talk to. I just want to make sure if you are alone it's by choice and not because you feel you have to be. Okay?"
She gave Levi a small sad smile and brushed her hand against his hair, tucking a strand behind his ear. "If there is someone who wouldn't be 'difficult' in this situation I don't think it could be you. You don't have to worry about thanking me or anything. Important though it is I'm not thrilled about this myself."

Frowning, Levi was about to say something when the steady sound that resembled someone shushing you loudly subsided. Subsiding dramatically, like the sky had finished ranting and the clouds were tired of storming, all Levi heard was the gentle pit-pat of leftover rainwater sliding down the roof.
❛❛What the hell, that was abrupt as fuck,❞ Levi remarked, staring in scrutiny at the light grey skies.

"Hm." Hanji pushed herself off the floor to sit back on her knees and look up at the ceiling above them. "Sure was."
She stood up and stretched, adjusting her goggles as she went to the door to look outside. The sky was already looking clearer, pale gray clouds spread across the sky but thinner than before. "It almost looks nice out there now," she said, leaning against the warped wood of the doorframe. "I've never seen a storm end so fast."
"You’re really not the romantic type, are you?"
"Ever done this before?"
"Probably not, but don't say that like you're any better."
"I do have some experience with romance, and I don't think you're supposed to be so forward about it."
//hello I still exist and tomorrow I’m gonna try and finally reply to you guys esp a-shattered-teacup
okay I lied I actually knocked out my script replies and I would probably do my long reply rn were it not 2am
"Well we have time, both of us, right now."
"So think about it. And tell me what you think."
"I already told you what I think. You just had to ask first."
"I don't want you to think I'm against this idea just because I can get distracted with other stuff and not seem as enthusiastic. I just apologized about that, I'm not going to again."
