He said it like an order, but there was a slight pleading tone to his voice that he couldn’t hide. While Becker had been thrilled when Connor had asked him to be his best man, he had taken a little while to figure out that such a task was going to require formal wear. A tux, to be exact. It wasn’t that he’d never worn formal wear before, but the penguin suit was a far cry from his dress uniform, in fact, it conjured up sour memories of the stiff button-ups and too tight church shoes that his mother used to force him into every Sunday. Glancing up at Jess, he tried not to obviously pout as he fussed with the poorly tied bowtie that was threatening to choke him.
“If it was anyone but Abby and Connor, I would not be caught dead in this thing.”
