My Family just moved to America in 2001, I myself wasn't even born in America. My family came from Nigeria, in a particular place called Warri. My family are still very cultural which is good, since I came when I was 5 I assimilated a little more.  

I talked to my mother and asked her how she felt about American culture and similarities with her Nigerian culture, she said none lol. 

I've realized a lot of people who grew up in Nigerian and then Migrated here all feel the same way. They don't really mix the two cultures together, matter fact they are reluctant to embrace the American culture . Since I grew up here its a little different for me, but I also get where my mother is coming from. 

Since My I only came with my mother and Father and the rest of my family is still in Africa she is the only one I could talk to in my family directly about the mix of cultures

This is a picture of Nikolas Cruz, the boy responsible for the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High. After killing 17 innocent people he was portrayed in the media as mentally ill. According to the New York Post, Nikolas was “lost in his mind”. To me this is an example of White Supremacy in the justice system. If the shooter was a black male the media would have portrayed him in the most undignified way, but because he was white, this incident is justified by a mental illness.

This image is an example of american prejudices against muslims, particularly women who wear headscarves. People assume that the men in their family force the women to wear the headscarves and not because they want too.

The systemic racism that is pervading in the United States society is pretty evident in the stagnant or worsening data reported by researchers. The fact is African Americans are continuously working against economic and social constraints that push them back down. To change the realities of these data, we must rethink the systems we have in place. This article is an excellent description of the statuses of African Americans in modern-day racism

This a clear depiction of modern day racism from a research on a report of racial disparities in the use of police force.  Black people are being attacked head-on by the institution that should be protecting all people.
