I am obsessed with your The Tourists story. In particular the gif set with the screenwriting. Do you write like it’s screenplay or a novel? Cause I would to try and write a story like a screenplay someday but don’t really know an easy way to do it.
Thank you so much! All my love 💕
I'm writing it as a screenplay. I find that with a screenplay, you don't need to add as much descriptive language because it will be translated into a visual medium and thus only requires the basics and necesseties of the scene, while novelisation is purely about the text. I just felt that, given my two year long writer's block, a screenplay would be easier for me to complete.
There is software and websites you can use that will format a screenplay for you if you're struggling. And I found the best way to learn was by reading other screenplays (especially of films I'm familiar with) to see how everything translates to screen and how to do write it.
Speaking of tv shows, how bad is it if I combine shows. Like stripping the plot and characters to basics and then combining them to make something with it? Is it considered inspiration then or am I just kinda crazy?
You can do whatever you want. It doesn’t mean you’ll be able to sell it. With that said, if it gets you writing and you love writing it, who cares! We all have our passion projects that help keep us sane because writing professionally sucks.
Think of it this way. It’s good practice for you to develop your skills as a writer. Overtime, you may branch out and work on an entirely original concept, and that may get your foot in the door and you may be taken on as an intern, or you may realize you have an entirely original concept and characters that evolve out of it, and that may end up getting shopped around.
Also, TV is different in that writers mostly work on things they don’t create. They get the characters and series from the network/studio/powers that be and it’s their job to fill in the blanks. Can they make changes? Maybe. Film and TV are all about compromise. You are one of many in a writers’ room, and you’ve got a head writer, an editor or a show runner, a gaggle of producers, and a horde of actors who’re all gonna have opinions.
Ultimately, write the thing and don’t worry about selling it. Putting that kind of expectations on a project is a quick way to end up broke and disappointed.

I just read the first episode for Ambition and nearly cried from how fantastic it was. I've never read anything like that before. This reads like such an awesome pilot. I don't have enough words to describe how much I loved this. Definitely plan to read more very soon!
omg this literally means so much you have no idea!! well credit where credit is due, the show is written by the amazing @rapunzles and iconic @quincywillows!!! they are so, so amazing and i love them both and adore working with them. but i do encourage reading @ambitionsource for an amazing piece of art from a team of awesome creators!
Just saw the post anon made about changing Astra's story and can't agree more. I've read the Newcastle comic that explained exactly what went down. It is disturbing and horrible what happened and I know this is the CW and not NBC or any of those big channels that can do these kinds of stories, but they have such a hard time sticking with the comics canon. It has made watching this season so hard as a fan of the Constantine show and comics. I hope Matt can get on the HBO show for JLD.
You’re completely right! Astra’s story deserves to be told, especially when it’s so important and integral to who John is as a character.
I love Legends, I do, but they have a tendency to forego opportunities for excellent character development or unique stories for the sake of a cheap laugh. Which I understand is the point of the show. It’s to bring levity to a grim universe, but I think that’s why I never saw Constantine really fit in.
Beneath his funny and charming exterior, John is a man tortured by his actions. Astra’s entire story haunts him and it drives so much of his character. And the issue is, the CW has had no problem with showcasing disturbing stories before. Not nearly on the level as AMC or HBO, but they have shows that don’t shy away from gruesome storylines and hard themes (the 100, Arrow).
But LEGENDS ISNT THAT SHOW.
And that’s why it feels so weird for John to be there when his stories can lead to some of the most disturbing scenes. As a fan of the Constantine show (I’ve never read the comics) even I thought his entrance was weird. I expected him to be a reoccurring character rather than a regular because I thought it suited him better.
But Legends has never been about delving into forgotten comic stories. It’s about taking those forgotten live action characters and giving them a second chance.
Legends is a show that throws comic canon out the window and now they’re not even using comic book characters anymore. I think that’s why they’ve tried to hard to include stories that put Constantine at the forefront. Because there really is no other reason for him to be there IMO.
I hope Matt can get on JLD too! There’s no one else I want playing Constantine.
I just watched all of Julie and the Phantoms because of Stevie. I was sobbing like a baby.
asdfghjkl this is fully the sweetest thing I ever heard 🥺🥺
I agree with anon. You make such amazing gifs. They are so clear and the perfect size. Not to mention they are never too dark or too light. You are absolutely magic.
Thank you so much! It took a while to get my gifs to where they are now (dimensions, action, psd) but I’m really happy with what I’ve settled on and what I’ve been putting out. So thank you for appreciating them!
