Mary was both physically and emotionally exhausted after everything that had happened yesterday. She was grateful that the baby was okay, but she still felt this deep sadness for all of the people who had lost their lives, and all of the families that had been torn apart from the violence. She had been resting in bed for most of the morning, following the healer’s instructions, but she had been feeling the baby kick quite frequently, so she wasn’t as worried about what had happened yesterday. She thought that it was probably just the emotion and the shock of what had happened that had caused whatever it was that had happened.
A little bit before noon, she got out of bed and got dressed, and made her way downstairs. Lily was coming over this afternoon, and Mary was just relieved to know that she was okay. After her panic had subsided with the baby, she had realized that she hadn’t heard from Lily and she had had no idea if something terrible had happened to her, or if she was okay. When she had finally received word from her, she had demanded that she come over today so she could see that she was truly okay.
Hearing the knock at the door, she walked over and pulled it open. Before she could say anything, she just hugged her best friend. “I’m so glad you’re okay,” she said softly.
