It was odd to step onto the battlefield with only a staff, and no tome, but Lucius still smiled up easily at Linus anyway. âIt is rather pleasant to be able to fight alongside one another this time. Although - â He turned to look over his shoulder one more time. âDo you - know where the others are?â Werenât there supposed to be four?
To be perfectly honest, Linus had thought that his teammate was a cleric until the man spoke to him. With the long hair and the slim figure, he just hadnât really put much thought into it before shoving the guy into that category, but, well, hey...at least heâd figured it out before actually calling the poor bastard a woman, right?
Little miracles, and all that...
Still, the monk was a bit difficult to deal with. Not because he was causing any actual problems or had an attitude, but he was just so damn soft and disarming that it was almost getting on Linusâ nerves. He had apparently been among the Lyciansâ ragtag group back in Elibe -- though the Mad Dog couldnât recall if heâd seen the holy man at the time. Most of his memory about his once-upon-a-time foes was narrowed down to a few names and faces. Nino, Legault -- that bastard, Jaffar; that lordling, Eliwood, and his loudmouthed cohort from Ostia.
No, he wasnât really bothered by the otherâs affiliation with the people who had ended his life and everything that his family had stood for. Lucius was just...he didnât fit the battlefield, and certainly not being teamed up with him of all people. He was too good, and by extension, it made Linus sort of uncomfortable to be near him because it felt like he sullied the guyâs soul just by proximity.
âYeah, itâs fu-- fantastic,â Linus bit out in response, cursing a childhood of having niceties tied to those of the cloth pounded into his skull.
Linus kept his attention forward, not sharing Luciusâ concern about the other half of their little group. He was here to fight, that was his purpose, and if they couldnât keep up with him then theyâd get left behind. It wasnât like these enemies were much of a challenge to begin with, but even less so when he had a healer nearby. The two of them alone would be enough to clear this area out.
âHavenât seen âem for a while.â Hadnât bothered to look. âWhy, you worried?â
