Fiesta Dip!
1/2 lb hamburger
1/2 envelope taco seasoning (or, you know, seasonings of your choice)
1/3 C water
1/2 can (16 oz.) refried beans
3/4 C shredded lettuce
1 C salsa
1/2 C cheddar cheese
2 canned jalapenos, sliced (fresh works too, that's what I prefer)
1/2 C sour cream
2 T sliced black olives
In a nonstick skillet, cook hamburger until no longer pink. Drain.
Stir in taco seasoning and water. Cook and stir for 2-4 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated.
Spread the refriend beans on an eight inch serving platter/pie tin/etc. Top with the hamburger, lettuce, salsa, cheese, jalapenos, sour cream, and olives; in that order.
Serve with chips.
Heluva Good Fan
Heluva Good DIp is having a fan of the month contest and to enter you have to send a picture of yourself with your favorite heluva product. I am a huge fan of ALL their dips and cheeses. Sometimes I even think about working for corporate Heluva Good and what a life I would lead. But anyway the contest is perfect for me and my fat friends.
Only this month I was working on school work and kept postponing submission. Finally on Friday night it was the witching hour. Deadline 11:59 EST. My roommates and I were going to a farewell party for Andrew in Shadyside, so at the last minute when we picked up some wine, I requested Fiesta Dip. How appropriate. I figured inspiration would come to us once we were at the party.
The party was fun and chill. We saw some old pals from sophomore years and yet again tried to recollect New Years Eve at Bar Eleven. We learned a new dice game, chatted about high lizards and fell in love with someone only from the contents of their bedroom. Then we realized it was quarter til midnight. All three of us crammed into the bathroom and grabbed the Fiesta Dip from the fridge. These weren't our closest friends, more like emerging friends, so we decided to be secretive. We crammed into the shower, held up a loofah and put the holy dip on a shower cart platform. Just as we were about to snap the pic, someone was pounding on the door. "ONE MINUTE!" We tried to capture the moment quickly but the hostess shouted through the door "Someone is getting sick!" The door opens and a poor blackout gal throws herself at the toilet.
I couldn't stop laughing at the situation, but the girl was begging us to leave. We scurried out of the bathroom with the loofah and laughed at ourselves in the corner. We did manage to snap one pic before the hurl, and its pretty captivating and honest.
If Heluva Good wants a new direction in their advertising, we've got it. Otherwise I will be ready with a real fan of the month picture in February.
