Advantages of fifth wheel campers
Fifth wheel campers have an advantage of stability. This is because 20 percent of the camper weight is supported by the rear axle of the tow vehicle. It’s easy to control when towing and provides improved traction. It also eliminates the possibility of swaying and pitching. Due to a portion of the 5th wheel camper being directly over the bed, the combined length of the towing vehicle and camper is reduced while still not sacrificing on camper space. The fifth wheel camper is hence heavier and larger than when using the bumper hitch. It’s easier to disconnect a fifth wheel hitch than it is to disconnect the ball and socket bumper hitch used on tow behind campers. The camper can be easily unhitched from the tow vehicle. It’s also cheaper in terms of cost than the motorized RV.
