Rural Spirit | Eliwood & Ephraim (modern AU)
The air felt wonderful, caressing his skin and passing through his hair as he drove. The windows were rolled down, welcoming in the fresh, countryside air. The sun was high in the sky and the farmland surrounding them seemed endless as they drove down the road, hardly passing another vehicle. They spotted far more cattle than people, grazing on the lands languidly, uninterested with their passing. The only buildings they encountered were barns and homes, placed generously apart from one another. Pherae, Eliwood’s hometown.
Eliwood passed a glance to Ephraim, who had been focused at looking out the window, likely attempting to stem boredom. He laughed softly to himself. He could hardly blame him for feeling as such, since it was such a long drive without knowing their destination. For a while, the only sound between them was the car radio, playing the most recent hits on at a comfortable volume.
Finally, he slows at an unmarked road with a single mailbox at its end and turns onto it. It only holds enough room for a single car, but Eliwood seems unperturbed.
“We’re almost there.” He reassured him. After passing an area with numerous trees, a large property comes into view, showcasing grand stables, barns, and a glamorous estate, befitting a family with wealth. There are horses in the field, that watch their car as they approach. Eliwood pulls into a sheltered parking spot, rolling up the windows before turning to Ephraim with a grin.
