Between 1970-73, the US claimed 73 North Vietnamese MiG kills against 32 losses. The Navy saw a dominant 22:4 ratio, while the Air Force trailed at 51:28. This success vindicated the new TopGun program, transforming it into a fully funded command with its own dedicated aircraft, staff, and infrastructure.
