Under the cut so people can avoid politics/ Trump if they so wish.
A lot of what we’re doing isn’t punching nazis. It’s not shouting “this is what democracy looks like” outside of the capital. It’s exhausting, boring work that involves things like reading ACLU alerts and signing up for your local representatives newsletters. It’s about making sure that your friends know when the sheriff who was in charge when Natasha McKenna died is up for re-election and that they get their asses to the polls. It’s about listening to people of color and trying to understand and emphasize with their feelings and not making it about your feelings. It’s about arguing with someone when they say they support the ban and pointing out that holding an entire country’s worth of people responsible for the actions of a few is wrong. It’s recruiting people who speak Spanish to work your voter registration drives and reach Spanish speaking voters so their voices shape our government as well.
That’s fighting racism. It’s hard work and it’s not glamorous. You’re going to get yelled at by people on the left and the right. It still has to be done.
Our world can be better. But we have to make it so.
