I'm definitely keeping the factual parts of the fic, so she will have her ethically dubious land in Wave regardless of my other changes. The girl deserves running water and commercially constructed roofing.

life is very hard for him. he needs a blanket and a nap and hot chocolate. and also hopefully for no one at mojang to notice the several hundred inconsistencies, blank sections, and outright lies in the last batch of paperwork he submitted.

(he got to page two, which asked for a list of names and species of everyon the server. which, fine! cleo, zombie- except, hmm, she's got snakes now. gorgon? undead gorgon zombie. sure. doc... doc's a goat creeper, except he's got all those cybernetics, so... there's something in the documentation from mojang about the percentage robotic a player can be before they have to be classed as android, so he'll have to check that. ditto for rendog, who's a nice, straight-forward werewolf otherwise but- oh dear, ren's never actually told him that, despite the ears and the tail on blatant display, and he knows sometimes werwolves and vampires and the like try and keep that sort of stuff off their paperwork, and he doesn't want to mess up rendog's passport app, so maybe just human? maybe just human. and then grian. avian! great, nice and easy and- oh, but he had all those eyes last wednesday when he was talking to the moon in a voice that made xisuma's ears hurt, and he's pretty sure that's not normal avian behaviour. and then pearl, who he thought was a moth last season but now she's got all those little pointy teeth- and mumbo, who's definitely human, but he also eats redstone and lives, so- and then- oh god, and then, joe hills. joe fucking hills-)

(at which point he figured he'd just lie wildly for the next hundred and fifty pages of forms and hope no one checked them very hard.)

Ya know, I read at one point that the way they find out about Wels being an NPC is certainly angsty, but you listed different possibilities - is there a canon idea floating around somewhere?

I don't think it'll ever be truly canon until it's written down! We often change bits and pieces depending on our fancy, and it's changed a little from the original post as well.

Wels dies. It's completely by accident – late S5 or early S6 (we're undecided) and he gets caught up in a prank unintended for him. Wels is resourceful, very overpowered, and the hermits are respectful that he avoids death.

So, he dies. It causes a bit of commotion in chat because Wels hasn't died before. There's a few jokes, people asking if Wels is okay, if he needs anything, can they get his stuff for him? But it's no more serious than any normal player's first death.

Not until Iskall urgently asks X to check if Wels has respawned.

Things unravel from there.

Oh I haven't seen this ask waahh thank you so much!! I really appreciate it ;v; traditional art needs all the love it can get hehe. I typically use either pencils (mostly B and 2B, sometimes 6B) or all kinds of inking pens. Mostly Micron, all kinds of sizes! Thanks so much 💗🥺💕
