Working on my arabesque!
Today my therapist suggested roller skating while wearing a white sheet on Halloween and you know what I just might 👻
Finally got the courage up to work on some lil bunny hops today! I'm still too scared to really bend my knees and lift my feet but I'll get there! I've been trail skating a lot lately and I'd forgotten how I have a different kind of progress when stuck in a parking lot or school yard.
I've been needing to practice falling on skates to get my body used to the idea of it so that I can fall and not hurt myself and so that I'm willing to fall instead of like riding into the street uncontrolled or something, and I think today feels like a perfect day to throw myself into the grass repeatedly
also realizing I actually need to learn to jump for safety reasons while trail skating so that’s a nice skating opportunity for myself when I want to practice in a parking lot :)
ah I meant to post a skating update but I’ve kinda been doing it on twitter cause I have skating mutuals there... but anyway I did a long trail the other day and I had a lot of anxiety. There were a LOT of crossings of small streets and other paths and a lot of cyclists and walkers, plus a variety of surfaces including brick, sandy asphalt, boardwalk, and one nonsensical little bit of stone which I fell over once and narrowing avoiding falling over on the way back. But after maybe half an hour or so my anxiety went away (which is why I always try to skate for at least a full hour if I can). I grew a lot of confidence and I’m proud of myself for only falling a couple times, and most of those times were more like stumbling when I was trying to slow down while approaching a crossing or people who were walking. I also got better at shifting my weight an doin lil jumpies to go over big cracks. Felt very good about what my body did :)
Tried spins for only the second real time ever and I made it 3/4 around !
I've never even gotten close to spinning before and today I was very successfully spinning at least halfway around while barely trying bc I found a very smooth basketball court. So that is great to know!
