Metkel - Tesfay Mehari a.k.a Fihira
One of our personal favorites here at FYE, though it has been shared countless times before, it resonates as one of Fihira’s well known songs, with its distinct use of vocabulary, and meaning behind every sentence of the song. Fihira himself explains how the song represents the struggle of the war, where at the time were the going in terms of conquering the war for Independence, and its now for those who fought in the war. Tigrinya, and any other language of Eritrea is very distinct, we have intense vocabulary which makes it very hard to translate into English, but we hope this gives you somewhat of a glimpse as to what the song is about if you didn’t know about it.
