Yesterday I reread this piece on science fiction clubs, and was thinking about Interlac. I’m feeling pretty good about our club. Yeah, 19 out of 50 spots filled, with about 10 very active members, a few once in a blue moon contributors, and a few in states of limbo. Interlac still exists because the experience of APAs is pretty unique. But it isn’t thriving because A) there’s no Legion comic, and B) more importantly, Interlac was a pre-Internet way for Legion fans to stay in touch. So those of us in Interlac are still having a blast sharing our limited circulation Legion zines, but there is nothing in the outside fandom culture to channel people into Interlac, when they have Facebook, and Tumblr.
