Filini - Temporary Score: 6
Description: smaller version of fideos (because certainly you know what those are!!); about 12-15 mm long before cooking (wow, wiki got intense about this one); "little threads" (ok, but only if you cut tiny little lengths of thread? my thread tends to be.... long? so i can sew with it?
First Take Points: 3 - so, i did get a photo of this one! unfortunately, because these are indeed "little threads", they are, uh... at the bottom of the bowl. this was a miso soup riff: kale instead of seawed (altho i did add nori flakes) and pasta instead of no pasta, but these ended up being really good pastas for a lighter/broth-forward soup like miso. they didn't overwhelm or take over anything. highly rec.
Remix Bonus Points: 2 - there was something INCREDIBLY FAMILIAR about this pasta, and i could not put my finger on it until i started talking to @sideguitars. filini are the pasta shape that are in Rice-a-Roni! these would also be a perfect pasta to fry, then use as a crispy texture topping for something.
Amusement Points: 2 - these are so short and thin, a container of them is like a container of [insert any grain name here] - i just wanna dig my hands in, and maybe toss a bunch up in the air with a celebratory hurrah! anyone have anything they need loudly and wildly celebrated? i'm accepting applications in the tags. i'll bring the Flinging Pasta and the Loud Exclamations.
Annoyance Deductions: -1 - just barely an annoyance, but i can't let go of the whole "little threads" thing. surely there is a better way to describe something that is thin as a thread but cut SHORT. grass? cobweb? hairs? those cowards took the easy way out i think.
Alternative Uses: i am going to plant a filini lawn for the pasta cottage on the edge of the pasta seascape. each blade of pasta will be individually placed. it will be a labor of lo- HEY GET OFF MY LAWN!
