that soulmate au idea goin around is cute and all but like??

a soulmate au in which both people speak completely different languages and have no idea what their marks say.

an english speaker with devangari on their arm??? a japanese speaker with russian??? a french speaker with gaelic?

or what about a pair who's native languages are very similar because they share a common ancestor but their cultures branched away from each other?

like a french speaker with italian on them, a tamil speaker with telugu?? in which the words /feel/ like something they should know but they're just the right amount of off that it infuriates them!

you're probably tired of those posts about what would define us in comparison to aliens

but here's another one anyway:

other species are completely baffled by our overpowering instinct to run towards the scene of a tragedy or accident instead of running away from the danger.

we see it all the time with car accidents, plane crashes, when someone falls over from fainting, even when another creature is in danger. we, as an entire species, would sooner put our own lives at risk or on hold because it's written into the very fiber of our beings to be the hero, be the helper, be empathic, to lay down or own lives to save others.

combine this on top of all the other posts i've seen with "humans are the most resourceful engineers" and "incredible mimics" or "laugh when they get hurt" and i think you've got a pretty unstoppable species of paramedics and firefighters worth more than your fancy regeneration chambers and fish goop

because while you're coming up with a detailed plan, we're running into the ship that just fell out of the sky and inhaling smoke and burning our hands and faces and hair sacrificing our lives for complete and total strangers
