I just discovered @finalstreet and am so bummed I missed the Kickstarter for this, but am glad it got released! 

A love letter to arcade style beat ‘em ups, but with ladies taking the lead. I mean, the story is literally that of Double Dragon but with the genders reversed. 

What, you thought I was kidding?

The art from Brian Atkins is great.  Clear, crisp and kinetic. The styles on display are eye catching and hint at character enough that you really could just go through the pages without reading things and follow who the characters and what’s going n easily.  But the writing itself is the final nail that brings it all together.  The characters are simple, and the action pics up right away, but it manages to make me care about not just the characters, but the central couple at risk.  It also hits the nostalgia of this sort of game it homages and fully reveling in the camp of its genre. 

And it wears its homage like a badge of pride.  We get health bars, combo names, and random food power-ups.

Again, you thought I was kidding! 

This was just released this week and is well worth picking up on Comixology or at your local shop.  It’s not often that I read a first issue completely on a whim and get hooked instantly, but this is definitely one of those times!
