Photos rather than videos for final piece.

On my way to the beach in Findhorn I decided to make the final artwork a photography piece rather than video. It was going to be difficult to film knowing there were people about. Especially people with dogs, dogs off leashes. 

I’m glad I did photography instead of video as I believe the photos capture more of the mystery of the distress entity wondering the shore. 

We took so many photos! 600 photos!!

Was difficult to pick final ones from the lot. 

I used Pixlr to edit the images, taking influence from Prue Stent’s photos.

Weather in Edinburgh

Beginning to plan when to shoot videos. Have been keeping an eye on when the tides coming in and going back out at Cramond Beach as found some nice locations to shoot videos there. Portebello Beach is far too popular and has a lot of homes close to the shore. 

Unfortunately the weather has been terrible compared to the week I visited Cramond Beachto take photos. A lot of rain and strong winds. I wasn't expecting to have glorious sunshine in my videos but needed to be warmer and less wet in order to not get ill.

Had to think of the possibility of filming indoors.

Playing about with materials.

Created this sculptural piece, and will make more to interact with in my films. 

Used tights, scrap pieces of cloths and a piece of expanding foam.

Filming a distress entity.

My project has developed into the idea of filming myself at beaches and other sort of isolated and open endless spaces outdoors of me as this distress entity carrying out these awkward useless tasks. Expressing how I feel I am carrying out with my project work, losing my motivation due to stress and feel I’m not moving on. Making me believe I am useless or the task is useless and I should just give up.

Hoping viewers will maybe feel like this when watching the distress entity. Telling it to just give up or hope for it to succeed. Or feel uncomfortable for it or wish not to be in it shoes. Wanting to know what goal is it trying to succeed in the end.
