for finalsstuck: i'd imagine Vriska would be very committed to studying, due to her very strong sense of purpose - if she doesn't study, then what's the point? what else could she possibly commit herself to doing? i can imagine her having like 800 cups of coffee every evening because she won't put down her textbook. how do you respond to this?
Well, she could also have completely thrown herself into some other difficult mission, like “making those losers on her floor like her” or “taking her rightful place as president of the D&D club” or “getting that one creepy asshole professor fired.” Vriska throws herself into things with passion and abandon, much as she sometimes pretends to be casual and impassive about it, but in this case it’s a matter of which things.
The other thing is that Vriska’s 88% a “means justify the ends” kind of person, and the very act of accomplishing the goal, no matter how she does it, can be what gives her the rush of satisfaction. So if she’s mostly focused on, say, campus activism and she just needs to pass her classes to not get kicked out? She’d take great joy in cheating and doing the minimal effort just to get by, because that’s admirable, that’s subversive, that’s efficient use of time that allows her to put her energy towards a greater cause, and who cares if she “breaks campus academic honesty policy” along the way? Not Vriska, that’s for sure.
