thanks to @evelynriesse I spent like ten minutes this afternoon writing up my speculations on Terezi’s Act 4 & 5 political ideology before realizing I couldn’t post them without people assuming I’m dragging her

okay fuck it i’m posting it anyway bc I want input on labels. I’m focusing on Acts 4 and 5, when she actually seemed to have a semi-consistent semi-coherent ideology, and as always, I love Terezi and worry about her a lot.

So she’s Interventionist rather than isolationist, as we can see with her dealings with the humans. Prefers military solutions mostly, in that she didn’t even try to reason with Vriska and her first moves in interacting with John and Rose was to troll them, but willing to try diplomatic solutions with Dave.

Leaning more to the authoritarian side of things, in that she believed her Mind powers made her best suited to supersede others’ autonomy and preferences (banishing Jack, killing John that one time, killing Dave that other time, killing Vriska that one time), but she doesn’t worship authority in the abstract, as we can see with how she runs her own message board to discuss whether Karkat’s leaderly decisions make much sense, and how she chooses to help Dave and “help” John in contrast to Karkat’s orders. Believes that the good of the collective (everyone who could be killed if Vriska does her shit) trumps the autonmy of the individual, and that, I guess, authority derives from being right and the people who are right (her) should have authority. Potentially pro-dictatorship as long as she’s in charge.

Pro law and order, in the abstract, and supports draconian punishment, but in practice makes individual calls about who is worthy of living and dying based on her own opinions and perceptions of potential outcomes rather than a coherent code of law. Blew Vriska up because she felt that Vriska had done wrong and couldn’t be allowed to do more wrong even though Vriska probably hadn’t actually broken any laws by murdering a few lowbloods. Maybe some kind of cronyist? idk how to describe this specific pattern of exceptions.

No fucking clue what her economic policy preferences are, because her ransacking the LOHACSE just straight-up doesn’t correlate to any real opinions, since it’s basically fake money and most of the value she wanted to extract from it was as a message to her past self. Pro-traditional values, if by traditional values you mean killing other people in accordance with your society’s culture, even if the thought of actually doing it is deeply upsetting. Probably pro-social equality??? since she doesn’t subscribe to anti-lowblood sentiment and doesn’t actually seem serious in her jokes about human inferiority. Opposed to individualism and egotism in the Vriska sense.

So uh. Someone pls come up with like three or fewer words that end with “ist” or “ism” and sum this fucking mess up.
