you guys...

finished surg rotation on the loveliest surg dept ever. got amazing feedback from all the surgeons including head of the dept. but the best by far was from personal hero and anatomy and overall-medical nerd extraordinaire (a.k.a. attending surgeon with the best bedside manner): I agree with everything the boss said during morning handover, you were a great asset and did so well in theatres. if you continue like this you will be unstoppable. 

you guys, what is this life? since when are surgeons so lovely?!

Boom!

Ran the diabetes clinic under supervision of the consultant (who was doing Echocardiograms across the hall). It was hell. But so, so good. LOL with apparent insulin resistance comes in with her daughter and her blood glucose readings just confused me. Turns out she skipped a couple of pages early on in the booklet and decided to note down her readings in a non-chronological manner. Sat back to watch her daughter give her a lecture on how she needs to be more organised about it. Mother starts talking back smack, daughter looks over at me and just giggles. Mother continues to tell me her life story, daughter keeps reminding her there's no time. Both of them then end up drawing on anecdotes from mothers previous medical history, mainly to entertain eachother. I can't help but think, I hope my mum and I end up with this kind of relationship. Started her on metformin and watched them leave with a smile on my face. Sometimes doctoring is fun.
