COC Day 3! Bloom

At this point, I think I might just be gathering as many different art forms as I can to use in this year's countdown! Today is decorated biscuits (which I'm sure Simon would approve of... and perhaps if I've done a good job, so would Lady Ruth)

Wisteria flowers! Now, I'm (sort of??) certain there's a mention of them in one of the books, but it's also a bloom that I can absolutely envisage growing up the side of the buildings at Watford.

Good news! I am getting a kitten soon! (Specifically the one in this picture)

In the meantime, I have to prove to my family (and myself) that I’m ready for the responsibility, but I know I can do it!

COC Day 1 - November 2025: First Year

The first COC post I saw this morning was @laura-art77 's beautiful beautiful artwork of Baz, Simon, and the Crucible, with the quote "I was eleven years old and I'd lost my mother, and my soul, and the Crucible gave me you." I had been trying to work out what I should do for day 1, and then those words stuck in my head so, I guess I sort of wrote a song? Or like half of one. And then ad-libbed a piano accompaniment!

"Gave me you" <- song title is being workshopped so please suggest them

The first verse starts pretty much straight off, then the second one starts at roughly 1:08, and then the chorus (if you can call it that) begins at 2:09. There's a lot of music between bits of words!

the idea is that this is quite a slow piece, in C minor - melancholy, unsure of itself, almost like missing something - so maybe it's less of a song *from* first year, but more of one looking back on first year.

recorded on my phone which sadly makes my piano sound a bit rough but that's ok we ball.

COC Day 2: Mystery

Fic-writing today, I literally woke up and scribbled it down in my notebook (before having to type it all up)!

Thus I present: The Magick and The Breaking of It

It’s a mystery really, the exact magick my mum used to secure entry into Mummers House for us Bunce girls. I’m not even sure if she knows that it works for me, and it will for Priya too, when she’s old enough to be at Watford.

I'm in the Pitch’s library at the beginning of the holidays, and I decided to try searching for anything about what the spell could have looked like - I’m fascinated by how much power my mother has, but also the turns of phrase she’d need to use to change the wards of Mummers. It also probably used ancient magick, something that if it’s written down, you should bet your bottom dollar (it’s an American phrase. Micah’s cousin taught it to me before- well.) that it’s in the Pitch family library.

After a combination of paging through indexes, as well as spell work, I'm left with only one book, entitled “The Magick and The Breaking of It”. It seems the most promising, although I’m not entirely sure my mum’s spell broke the magick of Mummers, so much as altered it. Like genetic modification for magickal buildings.

also me and my friend ran off to the supermarket during our break (it was a 3hr rehearsal) and took far too long to decide what to get. yk the like bulk pantry bins u can fill a bag from well we did that and then decided to tip them back in omg Idek if that's any semblance of allowed but we did it and ran off to pay for what we did want to buy lmaoo
