Do u ever get annoyed when people are like “why have bugs/reptiles as pets when they can’t love you!!” And I get where they’re coming from, but tbh they kinda can in a loose sense if you take good care of them bc what is love if not comfort with your presence and equating you with safety? Bugs and reptiles are super worthwhile >:T

Tbh no one ever really says it to me, but I can see how it would be annoying! I don't really think my fish or shrimp or bugs love me in any way. I think my fish (RIP) would come up to see me when I approached their tanks because they thought I had food, and my shrimp and bugs have no idea I even exist. I've never kept reptiles, so I can't say much about those. But either way, I don't need to be loved by an animal to find keeping them rewarding. They're super fun just to admire. Few things bring me as much joy as watching my millipedes trundle around their enclosure :)

On the other hand, my dogs think I hung the moon and follow me everywhere, so I can see why, if that's the only experience you have with pets, it would be something you'd want in any pet. Exotic pets are certainly not for everyone!

hello! i apologize for the question and it may be obvious but im not sure -- i always see freemind as white and refer to Him as a rat bastard, is that okay? im very careful never to use that terminology to refer to people of color but should i just not use it altogether?

canon freemind is definitely a white dude 

though personally for me i still get that like- knee-jerk reaction when that term’s being used because I have still seen it in regards to fanart/content where he’s not white 

id suggest uh- tread lightly-?? maybe not a good idea to use it at all.

Aw, sure thank you! I’m not the best at documenting my work in progress but I do have some pictures to give you an idea… (sorry for the long post - been fighting with my theme cropping images)

the ones I’ve been posting recently are from a series I did for my final semester in school about self imposed narratives so I started each one by just lots of thumbnails to choose a composition for the piece - so for example for Curl Towards Push Against 

and then sketching it very lightly onto the full size piece of paper just getting down the composition/anatomy etc. (didn’t have a great one of just the rough rough lines) - before going on to mapping out which parts were going to be cut out and what would remain… which is just a sort of visual language I’ve been building for the past year making these… 

and finally cutting it all out starting inside out to try to keep an eye on the structure of the piece itself because they’re fragile

and for most of them the inclusion of the background figures was a little looser with planning - especially once I add fabric because I just had a large bin I gathered up to try out different kinds of compositions until I got the final piece 

for another one like - limited - using the mylar let me do more work on the initial sketch because it wouldn’t be going directly on the mylar (as its really hard to take marks off of that)… in hindsight drawing smaller and then projecting the image onto the material that would be used for the piece might have been another solution but c’est la vie… so final rough sketch

and the final line art (laying mylar on top of the sketch and drawing lightly, building it up as I did the other one and so on (sorry for the picture quality was difficult to photograph because it was so lightly drawn)

so that’s how I went about it! hope this was some kind of interesting. bringing in the fabric and other material components was a lot more intuitive with how I set it up so I don’t have any shots of that wip as I was just moving them around a lot testing it out - it was a fun series! not sure if I’m done with it but definitely taking a break for a while and just uploading what I’ve made
