finchwhistle + things you said with too many miles between usRhys enjoys the fanmail that he receives; he loves reading about the kids he’s inspired, and the compliments are a nice confidence booster, too. Still, they aren’t the letters he looks forward to the most. Even greater than the days his manager walks in with a new bag of letters and gifts for him to go through are the days when he gets back to wherever he’s staying that night to find his and Pippa’s owl sitting on the perch that he always sets up next to his bed.Today is one of those days, and Rhys feels the smile spreading across his face instantly. He drops his gym back haphazardly on the floor, and doesn’t even bother to shrug out of his jacket before he makes a beeline over to the owl’s perch. He makes sure to take a moment to pat her lightly before untying the small scroll from her foot, and then she happily goes back to pecking at the birdseed in her dish.Unrolling the parchment as he sits down, Rhys grins at the sight of his girlfriend’s familiar printing (he’d never admit it to his friends, but he loves the way she dots her “i”s with little hearts). His smile turns sad about halfway down the page, when Pippa stops talking about what she’s been up to and instead begins to lament on how much she misses him, but how proud of him she is, too. Rhys misses her just as much, he thinks, and it always surprises him a little when he thinks about how the distance gets harder instead of easier with time. World’s will be over in a few more weeks, though, and then he’ll get to go home for a while, and he swears he’s not going to leave her side for at least a week.Even knowing that, it confuses Rhys to see her sign off with a comment on how she’ll “see him soon,” and he tries really, really hard not to hope.(He fails, but his hope isn’t misplaced).

084. Sex - Pippa

It's only once they've been together for a few months that Pippa's doubts start to creep in. She spends a few nights tossing and turning, thinking about whether or not Rhys will be disappointed by her inexperience. What if, when the time finally comes for them to have sex, she's not actually any good at it? What if he laughs at her? Or, even worse, breaks up with her?

The rational part of her mind knows that that's absurd, because Rhys is a good man, and he loves her, and she knows he isn't a dog, but he's still a guy, and guys are supposed to care about these things. Even the good ones, like Rhys, because it must be something he's looking forward to, and no one likes to be disappointed. Of course, she doesn't regret that she's never shared that part of herself with anyone else before, but she still worries that it will disadvantage her in her prince's eyes.
