y’all im sO bitter that i cant find these twO BOOKS i read like 8 years ago,, i have tried everything!! to find them!! and yet!!!
alright so a book about a boy named Ian in which he (or his brother?) is convinced he’s going to grow wings. It focuses on them growing up and like the kid jumps off a roof once bc he’s sure it’ll get his wings to come out but he only breaks his wrist, and the boys play soldiers, with one using little tin men and the other using the husks of dead insects caught in windowsills, and at the end of the book, when the boy is 18 he is caught trying to jump off a train bridge just out of town and he tells his brother that he can feel it, it is time for his wings to grow, and his brother trusts him and so they go back up to the train bridge and he lets his brother jump and theres like a loong moment where u just hold your breath w this boy bc omg what if- and then his brother is there, wings and all, and its gLORIOUS and it ends with the winged one flying away to find others of his kind!! that book is alwa y s on my mind like ive wanted wings all my life tOO and it just,, resonates so much and i can’t remember the title or the author at all
and then the second one is like a book series i think? it’s about three kids, i think either all sisters or two sisters and a brother? or smth? but anyway their mother was rapunzel and their dad was prince charming and they live in a world of like every fairytale all caught up at once and the youngest kid is named “Anything” bc their mom died in childbirth and their dad was mourning and told the kids to “call the baby anything” and i think Rumpelstiltskin was like in league with the gingerbread house witch (her house is an orphanage, btw) and once the children are fat and lazy the pied piper comes and leads them up to a hidden mountain entrance or smth and they’re forced to like mine for jewels in the mountain? until they ?? die?? idk i dont remember much after this but iD LOVE to find this again bc it was brilliant
