"VERGISS"
by FinDAC
Originally built in 1917 as a result of Tucson's campaign to promote itself as a health resort The Lewis Hotel has since been transformed into apartments, serving the changing needs of the city's downtown renaissance. In late 2016 Irish artist Fin DAC, living and working in London, marked the approaching centennial of the Lewis with this stunning painting of Dominican muse Vanesa Ortiz. Adapting the "art for art's sake" beliefs of the late 19th century aestheticists and Oscar Wilde's corollary "beauty for beauty's sake," the self-taught Fin DAC is a proponent of what he calls "Urban Aesthetics." Avoiding political and social statements, Fin DAC relies on diverse models, reflecting their beauty and as @wdwlls says, "capturing their free spirits." @findac @vanesacodes/
