PSA: Finding Authors/Artists

I don't think we'd call it a *trend*, exactly, but lately I've seen a lot of asks (both in my own inbox and as posts) saying "I can't find you on AO3 even though I searched for your name".

And I have advice born out of my ancient fandom ways: google is your friend.

It is a little known/underacknowledged fact that AO3 searches are... Well, terrible.

Instead, try googling "name of that author or artist I really like, fanfic" (and/or AO3, but fanfic works better in my experience). That will lead to a work they've done, and their profile.

It's not that we *mind* answering the question, cuz we love people looking for us, it's just that its easier on you if you don't have to ask.

🌷 I actually don’t know what happened to Riley’s account. I just realized she’s not active anymore when people sent asks or if I try to revisit my reblogs of her fics. I could still see her fics in my “likes” and I guess that means the content still exists but it’s just unavailable (like privated).

I saw someone post her Taehyung fic on ao3 a few months ago and based on the a/n it seems her account? Please go find Poetry of the Stars on ao3 and you’d find the pseud =)

I feel so inspired reading The Paris Wife! I want to read everything. I’ve pulled out my old Cummings books; I’ve checked out Ford Madox Ford and a Hemingway reader...

And now I just want to know where the modern-day, American, ex-pat communities are. Where are the writers sitting around talking about writing and what it should be, and how writing can change and influence another author’s work? I’m sure they’re out there, but as an outside observer, I feel like they’re isolated and separated in their own, insular social media communities. Am I wrong? Does anyone have suggestions about where to look?
