Finding Fatima
I happened to come across this cute film about two (Muslim!) individuals looking for love. It looks so sweet, check out the trailer
Fatima’s bedroom
Located on the third floor of the south wing of the manor home on the Shafiq estate, the current youngest Shafiq has made her home in one of several rooms with an amazing beach view. Most of her belongings are spattered in paint, ink and chalk dust, and much of the decor doesn’t make much sense - but she likes the eclectic mess that is her room.
Gemstones, art supplies and divining tools clutter every available surface; necklaces are displayed on the wall in a display she’s made herself. In among the mess are textbooks and candles, paints and pencils, potions ingredients and sketches. There is an easel beside the window, because it gets the best light, and once there was a desk and a chair - removed from the room after Fatima recommissioned the chair as a bedside table, despite having a perfectly suitable matching pair of tables before hand. She didn’t care; she preferred her own little touches, and it is because of quirks like this that Fatima’s room in a multi-million galleon ancestral estate home looks like something outfitted entirely with thrift store finds.
Perhaps the most notable feature at present is a mural of a flamingo on the wall behind her simple wooden bed. It is a temporary piece; she repaints the mural every time she goes home - much to the exasperation of her mother.
some things about Fatima:
her biggest priority is to make sure that everyone else is happy. she is a distracted dreamer who does not focus during class. she is nearly failing most of her classes && maintains only low As. she gets consistently high Es in divination && muggle studies && Os in care of magical creatures. quidditch is the only reason she actively tries to keep her grades up. she loves her sisters && her brother, despite their differences. she was always closer to her brother than her sisters were. she thinks yasmin is sweet but naive to the realities of things && she thinks jamila walks a dangerous path && she thinks she can do something to save them both. her brothers funeral is the first she has to attend in her lifetime. she made seeker in her third year at hogwarts. she was appointed by whomever was captain of the gryffindor team before abigail johnson. she doesn’t like to read. she is fascinated with muggle concepts && technology && beliefs. if hogwarts offered a class on muggle artists, it’d be her favourite && her best. despite having a pet owl she rarely mentions it as dian is often delivering letters instead of being nearby. she owls her parents && grandparents && brother at least once a week, usually more. she believes in support above all else. she believes in aliens && the reincarnation && truth in all things. she believes in white lies to save people from suffering && protecting from harm. she could never be an auror because the idea of hurting others {{ even in order to protect others }} makes her feel physically ill. the first time she hits anyone she is the one hospitalised, not them, because she hurts her hand && panics. the go-to gift for her is usually art supplies. she wants to try sculpture. she’s afraid of giant dogs && death && witnessing suffering.
