Thank you.
As I start my career, I want to thank the influential people who have believed in me and encouraged me to pursue my passion for web development and usability.
It's perfect timing that FindSpark launched their Thank You Challenge today. #FindSpark is a community dedicated to setting up young pros for career success. As FindSpark turns 5 this year, I’m proud to be a part of this ambitious community. To celebrate, I’d like to thank 5 people who’ve impacted my career:
Thank you Dan Rollman and Corey Henderson, for the summer/fall that became way more than an internship. You believed in me when no one else did - I didn't have any experience, a portfolio, or even a hackathon under my belt. At the time I was about to give up on majoring in Computer Science, but you introduced me to the wonderful NYC tech community and showed me the world that I could become a part of. That experience will stay with me forever, and I cannot express my gratitude enough. Thank you Emily Miethner, for taking me under your wing after my first internship. You put a lot of trust in me, letting me manage NY Creative Interns/FindSpark with very little Wordpress knowledge. I learned how to be an independent and responsible remote team member. You are the #1 hustler I know, and I've adopted some of your characteristics working with you - responsiveness, helpfulness, and fearlessness. You taught me how to go for what I want, as well as network and connect with others in a genuine way. Not only have you helped my own career development, you showed me how to inspire and support others as well. I'm lucky that I met you, because you have had an immense impact on my courage as a woman in tech. Thank you Anaid Gomez, for letting me shadow you and taking me to client meetings. You opened my eyes to the possibilities I can pursue. By seeing you in action, I've observed how much a great PM can improve the product. You recognized the potential in me and gave me the chance to practice communicating between designers and engineers. Because of you, I realized that I may want to manage a team one day! Last but not least, thank you to Ron Crigler. I enjoyed going to work everyday to learn from you. You were my personal cheerleader through the toughest times in school, and you always always boosted my confidence despite my imposter syndrome. By working with you, I know now that I can tackle anything with enough patience, diligence, and some help along the way. I want you all to know that you’ve played a big part in shaping me into who I am today. I’m very grateful that you invested your time in me, and I hope to pay it forward in the future.
#findspark help an awesome #paneldiscussion after a special screening of #theintern. Go see the film! #worthwatching
Last nights advance screening of the intern was all the emotions and flashbacks to being an intern #findspark #TheIntern #sisters #nyc
