Birds of the Tulsa Zoo (part 1?)
Several of the bird exhibits at the Tulsa Zoo are open, so birds can hop out of the enclosure areas and walk/fly around visitors, if they so choose. One of the birds was making a nest on a ledge outside the enclosure.
The peacock in the last picture doesn’t belong to a particular exhibit. There’s a few peacocks that wander around the zoo -- it seems to be a common thing with most of the zoos I’ve visited.
This is my favorite photo that I took at the Tulsa Zoo.
Grizzly bear, Tulsa Zoo.
The only wild bears found in Oklahoma now are black bears. These bears moved in from Arkansas, where they were reintroduced in the late 90s. They’re expanding north and westward in the state, but are mostly found in southeast Oklahoma.
The grizzly’s historic range included Oklahoma. They’re currently only found in Alaska, western Canada, and parts of the northwestern US.
