On my 18th birthday, my dad, Ben, gave me my first tattoo. It was designed by Miss Eri Takase, a calligrapher who had designed his and my mom Sarah’s tattoos about thirteen years ago. The focus kanji can be read as Akira, which was the name of my cat and best friend. It was a really special experience, and I’m extremely glad that my father was the first one to tattoo me.
