The end draws nigh on the installation of the Tharan onto this D #piano keyset. I totally love working with this material WAY better than ivory for obvious reasons, but from an OCD standpoint, just like it used to with ivory, it takes me forever to pull the plug and say well... I'm done. I really want this keyboard to phenomenal. The University of Texas at Austin means a lot to me as a client as they were the first instituion to commission a keyset from me when I first opened my new shop a few years back, and have already commissioned keysets to do adter this one. This complete Detroit Pianoworks custom keyset for the #1956SteinwaymodelBPHS has had the strikeweight of the Abel SP hammers smoothed out and the keys weighed-off to yield an exquisitely balanced #keyboard built upon the restored and redesigned original NY #steinway keyframe. Even though I've made dozens of dozens of unique, one-off keysets for #highend #acoustic #pianos I still feel a bit queasy when I finally reach the point in a project when I can mount parts onto the stack and see if mechanically this complex wooden #machine will actually function as I intended. In this case of the #1910mason, the #design and its execution resulted in a homerun.
