“Yeah.” There was no use denying it; the lieutenant wasn’t exactly speaking lies right now, and he had seen firsthand the destruction that Bazz B had brought down upon the Seireitei with the powers he’d possessed. He had been a soldier, after all; a man obeying the orders of his king, even if he’d undoubtedly taken a certain amount of pleasure in the carnage he’d wrought.
( and really, it wasn’t as though the redhead could sit comfortably upon a high horse himself)
“But you’re the reason people I knew are dead. That make this an eye for an eye kinda deal?” He admittedly hadn’t really cared about his fellow Sternritter enough to turn this into any sort of grudge.
--- He is just a bit bothered by the truth behind those words. Both sides had counted many casualties, and only one of them had won. It just so happened that that had been the shinigami... And the quincy were the villains in the history books to be written. The outcome might as well have been reversed; though Renji wonders how many { if any } shinigami would have been left alive the way Bazz B and some of his comrades had been. Then again.. Those were the ones that had defected. There was some modicum of solidarity there. A second chance, maybe. That did not mean people were thrilled about it.
“Yeah,” he agreed, “guess it does.” and the score was settled. In that regard... He supposed they were even. It was hard for him to get over one particular victim of the fire-shooting quincy though. As such, he was rather bothered by the fact that he was to keep him in check for an undetermined amount of time.
“c’mon..” He gestured for the other to follow. He had yet to show him the supply rooms and his quarters, and he still had to pick him up a uniform.
