I’m going to answer this for both Finian and Lucas because I couldn’t actually decide between them hahaha

Finian

1 - their voice

Light lyric baritone. Has a really really nice singing voice. Speaks quickly and animatedly in his native language, but around surface dwellers he doesn’t get the chance. His speech is slower and more deliberate in English, and he chooses his words carefully, because he’s very particular about getting them right.

17 - their ambitions

When he first appears in the story his main goal is just ‘survive’, and it has been for a good few years. For his entire teenagehood and a little before that. It sort of morphs into ‘be useful’ and ‘help these people who were nice to me’, then as he’s more sure of himself to ‘help my friends’.

Friends are… a new concept.

He tries really hard to help, and to make the world a better place, because there are bad people out there doing bad things and he can’t change what happened to him but he can do his best to stop them from treating anyone else that way. So he throws his whole self into that.

eventually he figures out he wants to be happy, and he’s allowed to want that

20 - how they react to a mystery love letter

At first he wonders whose idea it was to communicate with him with written words because really?

But it just leaves him more confused than anything. He’s not sure what he’s supposed to do. He contemplates asking Georgia, but what if the sender didn’t want him to tell anyone? Who is the sender, anyway? How’s he supposed to react if he doesn’t know who he’s reacting to?

25 - why i enjoy them

okay so he literally started as ‘lmao what if i make a merman named fin’ and has transformed into one of the most complex characters i have

Lucas

1 - their voice

Lyric tenor. Half the things he says are deadpan. For somebody so dramatic, his regular speaking voice isn’t all that loud.

17 - their ambitions

He’s… somewhat fucking stumped when it comes to life goals. He and his brother have built-in respawn guarantees. They’ll come back immortal and more powerful. He doesn’t intend to live far past twenty in human(/demonspawn) form. He’s pretty sure he’ll mess up regular human life anyway, and besides, who wants to get old

He basically lets insecurity get in the way of long-term planning :v Like many things, he’s being an idiot about this. He’s fifteen and doesn’t like himself. It’s like that.

20 - how they react to a mystery love letter

Immediately assumes it’s a joke. What the fuck. Why is this world so cruel. People are terrible. He hates people.

25 - why i enjoy them

I created this guy when I was like, twelve or thirteen. And apart from some notable details, he’s largely unchanged. It’s more that my perspective on a snarky emo child has shifted. Something like this:

Thirteen year old me: this guy is the best character ever! he’s so cool! wow!

Twenty three year old me: lol look at this disasterchild

he just really means a bunch to me
