Do you have any headcanons about Laki during the 7 years time skip?
I do, quite a lot of them. I will put a few under a cut.
For instance, I think one of my biggest headcanons is that the guild didn't stay whole during the time skip. The members decided splitting the search would be easier and more efficient. Some joined guilds, and some left for good. They kept in touch, though.
As for Laki, she took Kinana with her (as she didn't trust the others enough) and together they went to Minstrel to study at the Academia of Magic. This also explains the slow return of Kinana's magic (maybe she'd learn to shift into her snake form willingly?). I don't believe Laki would just sit around during basically nothing like the canon solution suggests. She'd still be present for the Bisca and Alzack's wedding, of course.
I like to think she also began to expand out of just Wood-Make during that time, possibly branching into pure Wood Magic, a bit like Warrod and maybe also picked up some supplementary magic on the side, as it's good to have variety.
