Blog 4: The Number One Rule
The number one rule to getting perfect grades. This is my main secret, and it might seem too simple, but please hear me out. The number one rule is…
Turn in EVERYTHING! Turn in everything FINISHED! Turn in everything ON TIME!
This rule goes for tests, assignments, projects, absolutely everything that is part of your grade. Please take notice that it does not say you have to finish everything correctly. You should definitely try, but don’t ever waste hours of your time on one question. You would be surprised as to how many teachers don’t actually grade assignments. I have never met a teacher who doesn’t grade tests, but assignments…at least half of my teachers don’t really look at them. How can you tell though? Well, here’s another secret of mine. If you are pulling a hundred percent on all the assignments that are being handed back to you in one of your classes…well, odds are you aren’t that perfect. Many teachers (I would know, I was a TA once and I graded assignments just like this) just glance over assignments to see if you 1) finished and 2) tried. That’s it. Now, if you get papers passed back with 15/20 on them, and you finished the assignment, that’s when you need to worry about correctness.
Some people would probably call my method cheating…or working the system…but my argument is that if my teachers really cared about how well I was doing on assignments, they would take the time to grade them. I put most of my time into doing the assignments that will actually be graded and less of my time into the assignments that I know will only be check marked for completion at the end of the day. By the way, I can say with almost a certainty that projects and tests are always graded, so you might want to take time on those. I will later discuss ways to ace projects and tests, but that’s for a different day.
If people stuck to this rule alone, and were strict in not breaking this rule, I honestly feel like anyone could get at least a 3.0 GPA. Turn in EVERYTHING! Turn in everything FINISHED (guess if you have to)! Turn in everything ON TIME! Seriously. Never leave anything blank, on assignments or tests. Turning in everything on time keeps you on track and you don’t get behind. And turn in everything because even a missing assignment or two can seriously affect a final grade.
