Who: @finlayhall When/Where: Conclave, Pt. 2
One murder and suddenly this event goes from being about the elite of the supernaturals patting themselves on the back to a mess of people running their own personal investigations and doing stupid shit in exchange for information. If he got his hands on whoever was making people pull pranks and put on stupid little shows in exchange for information, he was going to make sure their skull got a nice introduction to those nice marble floors.
Information. That was what people were dealing with tonight, and that meant trouble, especially since he didn’t know who the big players were. Investigations seemed to be singular, people trying to figure things out for themselves instead of their clans, and even then, would it count as openly siding with one side or another if he handed over what he’d found? It didn’t look like his own pack was trying to solve things, or else he would have passed it over to Avi.
If he could find Thera, he’d be putting the little journal into her hands. He didn’t know many other people here, and she was the one he’d trust. It was his scanning of the crowd for any familiar face that put his attention elsewhere: that hunter from before, the one who seemed to be chronically burdened with freudian slips and awkward phrasings.
What would the hunters stand to gain from all of this? He wouldn’t put it past them to do a frame job, take out a witch and fake a ritual killing, but he wouldn’t put it past the other witches or a vampire, either. Even some of the other werewolf packs looked shady. Would it even be worth it to try to get something out of the hunters?
He could try, at least. The man wasn’t exactly a closed book, and he was clearly disarmed enough by the situation to blurt out random shit. Why not use that to try to figure out what the hunters might have picked up on?
He made his way to the bar, dropping onto one of the stools and turning to the hunter with mock surprise. “Oh, hey, you remembered to swallow this one!” He said, nodding towards the drink that was quickly choked on, the hunter doubling over to try to breathe. He was looking for information, but nobody said he couldn’t have some fun fucking with this guy. “Damn. Nevermind.”
