If people dedicated to taking bugs outside, tenderly moving slugs from staircases in the early twilight hours lest others step on them, and not touching butterflies with the harmful oils on their fingers are unwilling to turn that same consideration and mindfulness to pronouns, I fear many not only uphold powerful delusions related to their own mindfulness but also unwittingly uphold larger systems of oppression rooted in fear and hatred.
