Inside each were a nice 64 piece engineering tool kit, a micrometer set, several new graphing notebooks, various adaptive writing tools, a messenger bag, new writing utensils (notably a specialized pen that could record audio), and a new camera. Attached is a birthday card.].

It has been a while since I’ve talked about the simulacra… mostly because I think I’ve gotten numb to them at this point. Usually at least.

Most of us (except for Finn) here at the BSAA try to ignore them since there really isn’t much we can do aside from keeping our distance from them and hoping they don’t interact with us.

The visitations haven’t really stopped, however.

I had a experience with one… this time, it was with a man I later learned was named Leon (who is also one of Kane’s grandfathers). I saw him in the break room this morning as I was trying to get coffee.. he was sat at the main table, seemingly drinking away his sorrows, like he’s re enacting something that happened to him in life…

I of course, tried to not bother him as I continued what I set out to do. But then he looked at me and started saying something to me.. something about how the world is falling apart. Something they always say…

I ignore him (I’ve given up trying to talk to them..), but then he says something different just as I was about to leave: “Take care of Kane for me,”.

I turn around and he was gone.

It does feel like this place is haunted sometimes.. even though they’re not ghosts. Not really, at least.

More and more reports of simulacra appearances have been made.

Some people, including Kane, Finn, and I, have started to see them outside of work…

I just woke up to one standing over me as I was napping, their garbled, glitching face mere inches from mine. We stared at each other in silence, with me froze in place and them refusing to leave.. I don’t recognize them or at least I don’t think I do... I would’ve thought it was sleep paralysis if weren’t for the fact that I was still able to move and speak…

When I finally wracked up the nerve to ask about why they were there… I think I started to hear them…

Not perfectly. I missed some words, surely. But here’s what I can remember:

…Threads of this world are coming undone… slowly. Expect things to worsen as this place rots ..

And that was it before they blinked out of existence.

As much as I do have some trusted colleagues (namely Dr. Mason and Dr. Kafka) and found a lovely, caring boyfriend in the BSAA in Kane… I must admit that it’s hardly an enjoyable place to work, especially when I feel like I need to fight others just get them to respect Pax even a little. She never asked to be infected with NH, but they act like she had a choice in the matter.

I’ve even made an enemy out of a senior doctor/medical advisor here, Dr. Bate. We don’t usually squabble or anything but the tension between us is… palpable to an uncomfortable degree. Not to mention he NEVER uses the title “Dr.” for me—it’s always just “Otto” this and “Otto” that. I did NOT go through 8 years of schooling and several years in residency/post grad studies just to be called “Otto” at work! I’m sure he’d be pissed off too if I just started omitting his “Dr.” title when speaking to him.

Worse yet, he has so many supporters compared to me. And they tend to view me as a bleeding heart who is putting too much time and effort in helping Pax.. it’s ridiculous.

Ugh.

Then there’s Sonia.. I don’t hate her like Dr. Bate, but she never agreed with my choice to save Pax over Hera… several of the survivors didn’t. Or at the very least, they were shocked to see that I’d save the very person who had been at the time relentlessly chasing us throughout Baltimore. I’m not sure how to respond to her disapproval with my choice. It kinda hurts to see a formerly friendly relationship sour like that. I still stand by my decision regardless though.. I do feel sorry for Hera. It’s complicated.

I’m not sure where I’m going with this exactly. Maybe this is venting, I suppose? Mostly it’s just me complaining about work.

Reports of simulacra seems to be on the rise.

At least one person has mentioned seeing one outside the facility. Which is… undoubtedly concerning.

In other news, Finn should be back at work by Monday. I’m glad he’s feeling much better as of late! But hopefully this doesn’t happen again.

Finn has woken up from being unconscious and is recovering from the incident a few days And since I’m starting to get feeling back, I’ve decided to visit him at the hospital.

He’s doing better, though he seems a bit.. delirious? And he seemed to be extremely tired as well. He’s glad to see that I got out of it better than he did (though I feel absolutely terrible about what happened to him)…

We chatted for a bit but ultimately he needed to rest so it didn’t last too long nor did I press him about what happened.

I’ll visit him again this week.

Spent most of the day in bed. I could barely get up but at least the pain is subsiding a bit.

I had to rely on my arms since they seemed to be a bit less bothered by it? It easier to just use my arms to grab things instead of walking and getting it.

Luckily I didn’t have too many more hallucinations but I did briefly have an auditory hallucination of people talking and another involving an olfactory hallucination of the smell of rotting flesh. Those didn’t last too long thankfully…

But there is more good-ish news! Finn was found. Bad news is that he was found catatonic in his office… but the strange thing is, his office was never opened and there were no key card swipes at all that could’ve indicated that Finn had opened it up. It was like he just.. appeared there. He’s still alive but whatever happened, it must’ve knocked him out.

I suppose I have nothing better to do at the moment so I’m open for questions. Doesn’t have to be related to all this.

Good news, I found Kane. Or rather, Kane found me wandering around his house. And he was not expecting me to be at his home today because he hadn’t heard from me either. In fact nobody has heard from me after… whatever happened between me and Chris.

I told him what happened. He’s… understandably unnerved to hear about it. I’m staying with him tonight because I guess I must of walked to his home instead of driven there because my car certainly isn’t in the driveway. Neither of us are in the best mood for driving this early in the morning.

I’m probably gonna be told to stay out from work due to direct contact with the simulacra (the pain makes it difficult to focus).

Bad news: haven’t heard from Finn yet. Nobody knows where he went. I’ve also been having… hallucinations. I keep hearing and seeing things that aren’t there.

The worst of which is me having a brief moment where I saw someone’s eyes staring right into me from a dark corner up on the stairs. All I could see was the glint of red eyes… I felt like a scared child again, afraid of the dark and the potential of something hiding from view but was fully aware of you… Kane couldn’t see it and he had assure me that it wasn’t there.

Now here I am in bed again this time with Kane laying beside me. As much as I want to feel safe with him next to me… I can’t. I still feel like I’m being watched.
