First time Finn sees Poe cry :)

Poe is a solider. Despite the kindness of the Resistance as a whole, they are still fighting a war, and this means that they don't always have the luxury of mourning the fallen; there is little time to cry, and as a result, Poe forgets how to do so until the fighting has ended

Finn knows the depths of Poe's empathy. His care expands across the whole of the galaxy, so Finn never questions why he hasn't seen Poe cry before. He too, is a solider, even if he finally experiences the relief of wearing his heart on his sleeve

They both know that when the war ends, a massive weight has been lifted off their shoulders, even as new responsibilities fall to them. So with this change, it's not entirely surprising that Finn sees Poe cry for the first time just days after the war ends

It is the memorial service for their fallen Resistance members, as well as all the innocent lives lost at the hands of the First Order

They read a list of names, one so, so long. Hosian Prime, countless other systems and battles where lives were lost are named. It could nearly be impersonal if it weren't so stunning. If they eulogized each and every soul who died over the duration of the war, the service would never end. There's too many to count

But one Admiral, in her words, touches upon the bravery of the Resistance fighters, mentioning Snap Wexley among others. Then, Poe breaks rank to quietly move through the crowd, finding his way to Karé. He wraps his arms around her, her back to his chest as she sobs, and Finn sees the tears running down Poe's cheeks at the death of his fellow pilot and friend

He holds her until her grief subsidies, and Finn watches as Karé leans up to kiss Poe's cheek. He whispers something to her, and she offers a tired half smile in response. Then, Poe returns to Finn, who squeezes his hand in comfort

When Lando is asked to speak, he talks about Leia, one war hero touching on the legacy of another. Poe loses his carefully managed control then, silently crying as he mourns the General

But Finn inches closer to the other man, and Poe rests his head against Finn's shoulder, tears dripping down onto Finn's shirt. And as they mourn, the era of fighting ends; the Republic has slowly been reborn

poe giving finn the ring

It's just time, Poe decides. They've been living together for years and they both know that there's no other person for them

Finn, of course, knows the significance of the ring. Long before he saw it against Poe's bare chest, the silver of the chain has flashed at him, one last gift from Shara Bey

Sometimes Poe falls asleep clutching the ring. He's been doing it more often, the more he thinks about marrying Finn

Consequently, it's an extra challenge to try and surprise Finn with a proposal. Finn teases Poe about it for weeks before Poe realizes that he can't win. If he wants to marry Finn within the next year, his proposal won't be a suprise

So Poe just cooks dinner one night, turning away their typical guests; usually Rey or Rose can be found in their company, but tonight, it'll be only them

Poe prepares a full meal, with dishes from Yavin IV, especially those Finn found to be his favorite. He sings under his breath the whole time, and can't stop smiling

Finn realizes instantly what's coming, and can't stop smiling either. The chain around Poe's neck is gone

Dinner is quicker than usual, and quieter too, silenced by anticipation. There are moments when Poe has to avoid Finn's eyes completely, or the question will spill out of his mouth before he can help it

But he still stares. There is a tightness in his chest as if his heart is expanding, threatening to explode, overfilled with overpowering, all-consuming love. The man before him, beautiful, with kind brown eyes and the heart of a warrior. Who saw unimaginable injustice in the galaxy and turned away, who saved him a hundred times, including the first moment they met

So he examines Finn's face, the curve of his lips and the way they turn upwards when he smiles. He relishes the weight and warmth of his beloved's hand clutched in his from across the table, and imagines, for the thousand time, finally putting the silver band on his finger

And even though it's not a surprise, even though Poe has known forever that he would ask, his eyes still fill with tears, voice breaking as he pulls the ring out of his pocket and says: "Will you marry me?"

Finn is crying too, coming around the table to kiss Poe, fumbling a little, world blurry from tears. "Yes," he says, "of course, Poe."

Poe is unable to help himself, laughing and crying from joy as he slides his mother's ring on his future husband's finger. All is right; they have made it this far and they will spend forever together

First time Poe or Finn realize they are in love with the other?

Neither knows it until much later in their relationship, but Finn and Poe fall in love, even just a little, the first time they ever meet

Finn estimates that he was a goner by the time Poe gave him his name

But they don't actually recognize what their feelings are until a significant time afterwards

They love each other long before they become boyfriends, and likewise, they realize it before then too

Poe knows first, more experienced with romance and heartbreak, and knowledgeable enough to understand that his love for Finn is deeper than anything else he's ever felt before

It hits him all at once. He's watching Finn talk with Rey, devising a strategy for a Resistance reconnaissance mission, and the swell of his heart in his chest is suddenly too great and incredible to bear

His silence and shock goes unnoticed, but Poe is sure that if someone had tried to talk to him, he'd be incapable of speech

He loves Finn. Objectively, wholly, purely. Finn, who lights up the entire galaxy with his smile, and sends Poe's heart into overdrive with every shared look, every joke and word between them. Finn, who is kind and fierce and good, who turned against the galaxy's greatest force of evil because it was the right thing to do and took a chance on Poe.

For Finn, this realization is more subtle, and inkling that turns into absolute fact. He knows the familiar, friendly comradery he has with Rey and Rose, but that doesn't quite encapsulate his relationship with Poe.

Because Poe touches his shoulder when they walk to the mess side by side, Poe grabs his arm when they're in danger and holds his hand when they escape against the odds. Poe is an unfaltering, steady presence in his life, but Finn is sure he loves him because he consumes his every thought and Finn realizes that his heart isn't supposed to skip a beat with joy and anticipation every time they're together

His gradual suspicions evolve to definite knowledge over the course of about a week. From the moment the thought first pops into his head until his final realization, Finn can only think of Poe and what his feelings truly mean. But there is only one conclusion to come to

They love each other, without a doubt, and it's only a matter of time before they act on this deep, unfathomable bond

first separation after getting married

They're on a mission together, and it all happens so fast. One moment, the long hallway is dark and quiet, and the next, it is lit up with blasterfire and shouting

It feels like seconds, but the next thing Poe knows, his husband is gone

They're too late to catch the ship with Finn before it leaves

Poe does not sleep and barely eats. Every waking moment is spent trying to track down Finn's location. Perhaps he would listen to Rey if she suggested he rest, but she is just a frantic as he is

Two days. It's two days before they get a true lead, and Poe, Rey, and a small crew of their friends hop on the Falcon in a matter of minutes to find the other General Dameron

The firefight and entry into the scrappy First Order hideout is quick and violent. It's a group of very determined rebels against a few scraggly, broken down Stormtroopers in their desperate last stand

Poe just runs in without thinking, only wanting to find Finn as soon as he can

And when he does, it's fumbling hands undoing the ties around Finn's wrists, trembling fingers touching his face, wet eyes searching him for injury and a shaking voice asking if Finn is okay

Finn just pulls Poe close and kisses him

Finn is alright, truly, but Poe has seldom ever felt this afraid. He needs Finn like he needs air, and he barely says anything on the way home, just clutches Finn's hand and keeps him close

That night, as they lie next to each other in bed, Poe presses a thousand delicate kisses against Finn's forehead and tells him how much he loves him. All of his fears, his panic, the pounding, gaping hole in his heart come to light

But it's the gentle, steady beat of Finn's own heart that grounds Poe and reminds him that everything is okay. His beloved is alive and safe, and so everything is alright again

poe giving finn the ring before they go off to fight AS an admittance of feelings ?

They've been tracking the base for weeks. The First Order outpost has been closely surveyed by the Resistance, the group of rebels waiting to strike at the earliest opportunity

Then the screens beep, awakening the muted environment in the control room. Poe spares a long glance at Finn from across the central monitor, then Leia diverts his attention

"Commander Dameron. This is the chance we've been looking for." The general's tone is quiet, low with seriousness. Several other ranking officers join them, watching more First Order command ships appear on the monitors before them

"Red Squadron isn't back yet," Finn says. "Neither is Gold Squadron."

Leia straightens her back, eyes steel. "We don't have a choice. The time to strike is now." She turns to Poe. "Prepare Black Squadron."

And Poe nods, face stony. He meets Finn's gaze for a fraction of a second, then leaves the room without a word

Finn follows him out with his eyes, then returns to the screen. But several minutes pass, the blinking dots of TIE fighters appearing rapidly before he realizes; he needs a proper goodbye to Poe

He catches Poe making his final preparations. BB-8 is by his side, and it swivels up to look at Finn, altering it's master to the new presence

Poe smiles at Finn, the reasons for his visit known and unsaid. There is sadness tinged in the expression. Still silent, he draws Finn into his arms, hugging him tight to his chest

They separate after a long moment, but to Finn's surprise, Poe keeps an arm around the other man's shoulder

"Hey," he says softly, and there is hesitation in his words. But Poe still stays close, removing a chain around his neck, metal flashing at him in the hangar's lights

Poe holds up the ring, a band of silver on the chain. "This is for you, Finn."

Finn knows what the ring is, what this means. Black Squadron is going into battle, practically alone and very outnumbered, and Poe is giving him his mother's ring

"If I don't come back," Poe continues, deliberately focusing on Finn's shoulder rather than his eyes, "just know that this ring has always been for you."

Finn is speechless; the floor has fallen out from under his feet, and he is plummeting, lost in love and fear and anticipation

Poe keeps a hand on Finn's cheek, tracing his jawline. His touch lingers, warm. Poe presses the ring into Finn's palm, and then he is gone.

First time: Poe gets hurt, and Finn worries (always a good trope)

As much as they prefer to fly missions together on the Falcon, Poe is both a General and a pilot, that means sometimes, he has to lead missions on his own, without Finn

It drives Finn insane that he can’t always be there to protect the man he loves

But he’s a constant presence in the command room, watching Black One on the screens and willing Poe home safely

Yet on one of these occasions, a recovery mission goes south, and Poe’s icon on the screen begins to blink

His voice filters in over the comms, “I’m hit!” he says among a cloud of cursing and frantic beeps from BB-8. A cold hand of fear seizes Finn’s heart, and he grips the edge of the holotable to steady himself

“General Dameron. Report in.” A voice says from beside him, cutting over the beeping of the alarm. “General Dameron.”

Static fills the air, and Finn cannot breathe- but then Poe speaks again, words tight and rushed “I’m okay. Sustained some damage, but I’m okay.”

Even with that confirmation, Finn’s racing heart doesn’t slow until he is standing in the hangar, watching Black One land

Poe climbs out, slower than usual, but making his way towards Finn nonetheless. He is just a few steps away, mouth opening in greeting, when Finn realizes something is wrong. The orange of Poe’s pilot uniform is dark, stained with a deeper red. Concern floods his mind, panic overtaking his senses, but then Poe begins to fall, twisting as he stumbles. Finn barely manages to catch him before he hits the floor

Afterward, Finn hardly remembers yelling for help, or running alongside the respulsorlift gurney on the way to the medbay. He remembers the blood coating his hands, the metallic scent in the air, and the image of Poe’s face, eyes closed and cheeks gaunt and bloodless

Poe doesn’t remember falling, only seeing Finn, then suddenly nothing. He remembers waking, hours later, Finn clutching his hand and so overcome that the other man was unable to speak. He remembers brushing the tear away from Finn’s cheek, and the softness of their kiss. Poe remembers the comfort of realizing Finn had been at his side the entire time, and the relief in knowing that Finn would always be there when Poe needed him most

FinnPoe, first admittance of feelings for each other.

Their feelings go unspoken for a long time. Although it's clear to everyone around them that they're in love, between Finn and Poe, the handholding, long gazes and flirtatious jokes are considered platonic, or at least something along those lines

Their confession of love is like a dam bursting. From the moment they first met, the bond between the two men has been deep and all-encompassing; neither can picture life without the other

Finn is the one who gives in and finally just kisses Poe, surprising them both. It's short and sudden, but Finn holds Poe's suprised look, confidence starting to waver after a few seconds, which is how long it takes for Poe to lean in and kiss Finn again, this time eager and drawn-out

When they pull apart, breathless, Poe rests his forehead against Finn's, and whispers "I love you" because they've known it since the moment they first saw each other, even if it's been unsaid before then

Finn smiles, one that takes up his whole face, and says "I love you too"

To which Poe responds with Finn's third-ever kiss, then peppers more light, happy kisses across his jaw, his cheeks, and his nose. And each time, Finn knows that every look, every affectionate squeeze of the hand is his beloved telling him just how much he loves him

Finnpoe, can you write about their first fight? Thanks.

Aside from minor, petty conflicts, full-blown fights are rare. During the war, they aren't comfortable or secure enough just in their own lives to really fight

But as they rebuild the Republic, when things are calmer and Finn and Poe try to balance domestic life with reorganizing the governing body of the galaxy, things tend to get more tense; the slower pace of life forces them to truly and wholly resolve any conflicts between them

Poe is exhausted from days of negotiations with leaders from various worlds and Finn, who is less frustrated by the nuances of diplomacy, becomes upset at his boyfriend's impatience and apparent lack of concern about the system they're working in

They try not to let their work interfere with their relationship, but they are a couple who met and fell in love because of war, and that still pervades their private lives

The tension bleeds through and boils over. The fact that Poe, who is no more strained and busy than Finn is, still can't find time to be with his boyfriend is aggravating

Poe staggers home well into the night, caught up with old Resistance leaders and former members of the New Republic, and Finn is waiting for him

Finn tries to give him the cold shoulder, but Poe is persistent and short of temper, and after Poe asks what's wrong for what feels like the hundredth time, Finn explodes

Neither of them yell, but tones are sharp and teeming with rage. Finn laments on how Poe never has time at home, how he can't compromise with Finn on Resistance matters, and Poe retaliates just as angrily, wounded, harshly defending his dedication to serving the galaxy

On better days, if they were well-rested and at peace with the current state of affairs, they would never have fought; but those are not their circumstances. Their words are petty and unkind, and when all of their anger is gone, every complaint hurled through the room, Finn and Poe stand, looking at each, both hurt

What he's said haunts Finn, and he stares at his boyfriend, tears welling in his eyes

Poe is near tears too. Wordlessly, they move towards each other, then collapse in each other's arms, exhausted and strained

At first, they don't apologize, only explain themselves in calmer voices. Finn feels lonely, like he hasn't seen enough of the man he loves, and Poe has been run into the ground reforming the galaxy; he's in over his head in what feels like an impossible task

They just miss each other and their communication has been suffering

It's still tense, but they apologize and forgive each other. The couple is particularly clingy the next day, and quieter too, but things go back to normal fairly soon afterwards. It is a hard lesson to be learned, but one necessary nonetheless
