*Ignites her Flame Spirits.* BTW SPOILER ALERTS!
Welcome back, to Sin’s hottakes or whatever I’m calling these intermittent reviews. This time, I’m going to cover the infamous sufferer of “Lewd Syndrom” on Fire Force, Kotatsu Tamaki. A girl who get’s betrayed by her mentor, Tamaki is one of those characters you either like, find annoying, or you want to cuddle to death. Ignoring whatever Dere assignation you want to give her, she’s a good solid female character. When you first meet Tamaki she’s the typical loud mouthed pushy girl who seems to always be dressing skimpily. Her and Shinra’s early encounters are nothing but stereotypical accidental anime humor. Where she really shines is how her story begin’s to evolve over time. The betrayal Rekka Hoshimiya, only cracks her understanding of the world. This all the more made worse that the man turns and physically abuses her. Why did she take so long to question Rekka? A quick gander into her history reveals she was ostracized by her peers for her clumsiness at first and then her status as a third generation pyrokinetic. Perhaps it’s the collective trauma and hope that each of these girls exudes. How they try to pull through the fact that they live in a world that has people imploding into living fire demons.
Tamaki is best described as a Fire Nekomini. Her Third Generation powr allows her to create flaming tails, ears, even hardened claws. Tamaki’s mobility also increases with her ignition giving her greater ability to dodge and fight the enemy. This is seen really well when she combats members of the White Clad in the Nether Invasion of the story.
My honest feeling is that she’s a character that can easily be overlooked. She’s a klutz and often dresses in the trope ridden skimpy manner. But really when you pair her with either Sister Iris or even Maki. they form a little trio of loving sisters-in-arms. I really do hope people take advantage of this character for fanfic, because she’s one of those characers we can all easily relate too. She’s Usagi (who I WILL COVER down the road) from Sailor Moon. The dramatic girl all of us can see inside and all can relate to as she just wants to have hope for herself and her friends.
