Coats and Hands

Man who steps from the trees calling ‘Lizzy.’ Young Masha runs to him. 

His coat comes to about mid thigh. Doesn’t reach his knee. He appears to be the man with the ring on his right hand. No gloves.

Red Ring Man putting Liz and bunny (fulcrum bunny in reality prolly) in closet.

Hand during argument. Sleeve comes to slightly above wrist, but no gloves. This is left hand.

Woman leading her out. I believe Masha was led out twice. It appears this is the first attempt. Woman wearing gloves just like in the fight by the window. Likely Kat. Same person who led Liz out of the closet.

Nebulous struggle involving knee length coat person.The gloved hand lets Liz’s hand go.

What might be interesting is that in the Connolly flashback, the man has a little longer than knee length coat and the woman an ankle length.

Both have gloves here as well.

Update: Actually, now that I look at it, I can’t be sure the knee length clip is part of the nebulous struggle or not. It might just be interspersed with it. I might get back to this.

None of the men leaving have gloves. The one on the left doesn’t either. Although they may have been taken off, who knows. One man (flannel man) has a wedding ring, but no other rings visible. Doesn’t mean it’s not there, but can’t tell.

Two men in coats, one in flannel shirt. The coats don’t seem as flowy as the ones the man and the woman fighting had on. They’re tighter and neater. Can’t tell length.

Middle man doesn’t appear to have ring on his right hand. Man on left definitely doesn’t (I’m not going to post eleventy million pics of this though). Flannel man’s right hand never visible. Sidenote: I can’t say for sure all the men actually left. 

Person in bedroom with Liz as her doll’s face melts. 

Hand completely obscured. No way to know if there’s a glove, a ring, or even a feminine hand. 

Coat is short. Not as long as in the tree lot (although that could have been an overcoat and this more of an inside deal, but that’s speculation). 

You can see daylight on the way left as the person walks. So the coat (shirt, whatever) stops there.

Shot man (the positioning is the same in the Connolly recall, as is the wardrobe. The man himself is different in Connolly though. He has hair). Longer coat. Gloves.

Barring switched roles, it’s not a man that lets go, it’s a woman. Cutting to the men leaving is editing trickery. It’s hard to say what happens, what caused her to let go. It almost looks like there’s a struggle for a bit, as if Masha is pulling away, but hard to say.

It makes sense, because Kat would run after Masha after the shooting/fire starting. She’d follow her back to the closet. (that’s assuming it’s kat and not some other random woman)

The woman is leading her out by her left, but the scar appears on her right. The chunk of how the scar appears is missing. Liz doesn’t remember how she got it.

There is no bunny in these shots. I think the bunny part comes later. I think Masha runs back and is carried out by someone else, along with the bunny. (I suppose it could be the other way around, but in the end Masha has the bunny, so, I’d say that part as the last part is the best bet.) The hand holding the bunny is seemingly deliberately concealed, so I can’t say if that person had a glove or a ring. 

The shots are mixed together in the final mix, but this is what you get when you string the same shot together.

The clips of Masha with her bunny. It’s kind of an odd position. Not sure if she’s standing next to a person, being held by a person, or is simply standing turned. In the editing they make it look like she’s looking at the man on the floor, but they could easily edit in something else. She might be in her bedroom at this point watching the flames melt her doll’s face. Or she might be out looking at floor dude, who knows. 

The shot at the end, they make it look like she’s moving, being taken past floor dude. But it also might be the camera moving and the hair being blown back by the heat.

Gloves

At least two people with gloves. Katarina and the man shot. The gloves are there in both the braxton and connolly version, although the man himself appears to change. Or, the hair, anyway. 

The man who put Liz in the closet had no gloves, but did have long sleeves. A suit type coat or something. You can see a glimpse of his left hand through the door.

Right hand had the ring.

Katarina appears to be the one who pulls Liz out of the closet. A woman with gloves and no bunny.

It’s a gloved hand that lets go (or is pulled away or who knows) near the door. 

The three men appearing to leave the house have no gloves. (None of them appear to have the ring either, but it’s impossible to say for sure.)

Liz finds herself back in another room at some point. At which time someone presumably carries her out along with the bunny. 

Right hand concealed.

You know what never made sense to me?

Why the man who put Liz in the closet, a man bare-handed at that time, and during the argument outside the closet, would be shot at the end of the hallway wearing a coat and gloves.

The non-peopled ‘b-roll’ portions. I’m basically trying to ‘uncut’ the footage. They reuse a few shots. I left out a couple of the carbon copies.

Fire Analysis 

The block seems designed to block her memory of the shooting. The night in general might be suppressed, but the main thing is the shooting. Everything tries to stop her from going down that hallway.

There are three levels of ‘don’t go there, don’t look, don’t remember!’ security.

1) Tangent memory

Before Liz can exit the closet and, I assume, follow the argument which has moved into another part of the house, she is whisked away on an adventure by her stuffed (now live) bunny. To snow and play in a Christmas tree lot. This covers up the badness. When it ends, she’s looped back to the closet, back to the beginning of the argument. 

2) A block in the hallway

This block takes on different forms. Both times, it’s a person. Herself.

In the first trip down memory lane, it’s young Masha blocking her, telling her to go back, trying to pull her back. In the second trip, it’s her larger self. She fights with herself to see what’s at the end of the hallway.

When Orchard pulls her out of the first trip down memory lane, Liz is reacting violently to almost reaching her destination. 

This hallway block could be something placed there by Krilov, or this could be Liz’s own desire not to remember. Her own subconscious trying to protect her. 

3) People in different roles

If the tangent fails, and she pushes past her subconscious block, she won’t see the truth of what’s happening anyway.

When she wakes up from Braxton, she has the impression that Red is to blame. But when the Connolly shooting takes her back, she sees the truth.

She shot him. 

Part 9 of my clips illustrates what caused Liz to think Red had something to do with it. The hat man is struggling with other man, not a man and a woman.
