BUT SERIOUSLY! CONTINUE! i absolutely adore spideytorch fics like this and i simply cannot understand why. i would love more recommendations if anyone has certain fics, as i'm always open to reading about my boys and their shenanigans, especially if it involves johnny being confusedly in love with the worlds biggest mess of a man and the worlds biggest menace.
but fr, I've just always seen johnny having a crush on spidey since forever ago (seeing as how, y'know, after their very first interaction johnny immediately knew spidey could do no wrong to the world) and peter slowly growing on him. and i absolutely LOVE the idea of johnny simultaneously telling spidey about how he may have a crush on peter parker, and telling peter he may have a crush on spider-man. it's just too good! oh, but bonus points to the rest of the ff casually threatening spidey/peter after accidentally hurting johnny's heart, and sue threatening to kill him. <3

I think it's fine for adults to participate in shipping characters, obviously.
However, I don't think adult creators should be making explicit content - art or writing - about minor-aged characters in their ships. Especially if the source material is meant for kids/teens mostly, over adults.
Romance is fine, just not stuff that's obviously supposed to be specifically sexually gratifying. (And yes, I know teenagers are going to make this stuff too, but they should have the space to explore that sort of stuff without adults interacting with them.)
I have a lot to say about the sexualization of minor-aged characters in media and how that can influence how people interact/act with real life kids and teens or how minors feel like they're expected to act.
But I also have personal experience that influences my thoughts, which I put under the cut.
I grew up in the wild west of the Internet. I had no supervision. I know how adults interacted with me, even when they knew I was underage.
I think adults should be expected to hold themselves to a higher standard, in order to not interact with minors in sexually explicit ways.
BUT further than that...
My ex had a big collection of NSFW content involving minor-aged characters. He ended up going to prison for possessing child sex abuse images.
