Hey guys so I hadn't been online for a while and totally forgot to mention why. The great Chinese firewall finally caught up with my VPN- so had zero access to social media for weeks- which was actually quite nice and also dramatically inconvenient (Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, my email... Basically everything blocked in China). I finally crossed the border to Laos- really feeling the last few kilometres to the Chinese border - waits were slow and cars sparse but made the crossing before my visa ended. Completely overwhelmed by the kind nature and friendliness of the Laos people as soon as I crossed. First ride with a truck and the driver turned the air-conditioning on full blast and faced it on me, giving me water and caring for me. The next truck was two lovely women and I ended up in my destination with zero research and not even a single word of the language. I felt a little nervous as I walked the border as without a VPN I had no opportunity to check any information online. After 5 minutes of walking across the border 4 elephants emerged from the jungle alongside some men. With only construction sites and no people around I couldn't work out what braught them here. Such a beautiful welcoming experience. Laos is green and rich and buzzing with life - as is the last few hundred kilometres in China. Fully alive; lizards, crickets and creatures fill the jungle. So anyway... I'm in Laos now being a hermit in a cabin on a riverside in a ghosty village only reachable by boat. The video taken in Sichuan China at a community event arranged by my awesome couchsurfing host.
Thom Thumb ready to kick some ass xD
