Nothing quite hits the same as when you battle Kabu the very first time and you're like what a nice respectable old man then that music hits and that killer gaze snaps up at you hitting you with the realization of how screwed you are

Kabu definitely strikes me as a baseball player. Bowling might have worked too, or golf. But those feel a bit more like old guy sports and Kabu tries to stay young. And he has the calves.

A Pokémon SWSH headcanon I have includes Kabu, the Fire Gym leader, secretly being Ball Guy and you can’t change my mind.

I mean, why else would he be late to your match with him? Clearly he was busy changing!

Kabu squatting forward while battling looks funny but in reality I imagine that would be very threatening and intimidating to see a very serious intense eyed man who's staring into your soul, leaning forward while commanding fire monsters.
