it is curious --- this want for companionship ; though not unreciprocated as cheeks dimple the sweet admission of his own feelings , periwinkle blush . ever since his comprehension of the holiday he’s been perplexed , having very little of his own personal experience as foundation sans what information he’d gleaned from interfacing and simple people - watching . the notation of women in heels much too high ( ankles at alarming angles to the remaining podiatric bones ) , condoms stuffed into back pockets , flowers --- predominantly roses of the crimson variety --- aplenty . gold and pink and red and silver . lots of so - called hearts , not really in the shape of the muscle at all . research has done ill to satisfy him , however , learning only of its origin , ways to spend it , and little of anything else . it’s complicated to string it all together .
but when dearest of persons asks him , how can he possibly resist ? he’d also heard of the exchange occurring between friends , of platonic nature with no further desire or expectation , oft when both found themselves without a partner of their own for the evening --- and the idea had seemed perfect .
