Firebreathonary Stats 2025
Happy last Firebreather Friday of 2025 dear Flamily!
It may be hard to believe, but it is already the last Firebreather Friday of the year. Which means that we've put together some data representing our beloved Dictionary's evolution over the course of 2025. Enjoy and keep spreading and adding the words!
We start with the Total Entries Chart, decpicting the total count of Entries across the Categories of all times. Some Entries, in categories like Words, Expressions or Names, have sub-Entries, which means that an entry can be counted as either one big entry or several separate entries. Some of these categories do not actually have sub-entries yet, like Emojis and Platzcabulary, but no one said that could not change over time.
The jubilee year 2025 has seen the second lowest number of entry additions in Firebreathonary history, only 2014 has fewer entries. The six (6) new entries of this year are mostly words (4) and two (2) more in the Platzcabulary category. The other categories were entirely inactive.
2024 has seen quite the reduction of entries compared to last year, only about a third of the previous year’s count with 12 in total. Th emost productive category was Platzcabulary with 7 in total. The most entries - 5 - entered the dictionary in June.
2023 was a very active year with 39 new entries in total; it even saw the addition of a whole new category! This new category, the Platzcabulary, started strong with indragonable 14 entries and thus easily became the most active category, followed closely by Words with 12 entries. April was the most active month with eight (8) entries in total.
2022 has been quite the active year as well, with a total count of 36 new entries. The activity was mostly in the beginning of the year, with March being the most active month (10 entries). Words was the most active category, with 20 entries being added in it.
2021 was only almost half as active as 2022, with only 16 new entries in total. Words was by far the most active category (12), with August (5) as its most active month.
2020 has been the least active year so far, with only 9 entries in total. Names was once again the most active category (6), and March (5) and April (5) the most - and only - active months.
2019 was a little more active than its successor, with 12 entries in total. Most active category was, Names (10), most active months were April (3), June (3) and August (3).
2018 was the third most active year (37) in Firebreathonary history, with Names (21) again being the most active category, and April (6) and October (6) as most active months.
2017 was the second most active year (47) in the Dictionary’s history. Names was by far the most active category (25), June (9) and July (8) the most active months.
2016 has seen a bit of a downer, with only a few entries coming in at the beginning (April, 8) and the end (December, 2) of the year. The only active categories were Words (5), Expressions (5) and Names (6), all about equally active.
2015 is the year the Dictionary was officially started, hence it was easily the most active year (62) in Firebreathonary history. Category wise, Words (25) and Names (20) were most active. Month wise, June (12) was most active, as well as anything that entered the Dictionary before fully dated entries (14 undated entries).
2014 has seen only one ‘real’ entry, even though there are other entries which have a first occurrence of usage that year.

And that’s it for this year’s Firebreathonary Stats!
We hope You had a good Year 2025 and that 2026 will be even better for You. I certainly had a blast celebrating this big anniversary year with You all and diving so much deeper into the world of dictionaries and lexicography and get to nerd about this project of my heart on an academic level.
Thanks a Billion for keeping the Firebreathonary growing for another year and we hope to see you all around in the next one as well!
Keep Spreading the Words!
